Encouraging Good Dental Hygiene for Your Kids

Help your kids take care of their oral health this National Children’s Dental Health Month.

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month.  A major goal of this month is teaching kids good dental hygiene practices that they can continue throughout their lives.  If you want to help your kids take better care of their oral health, then try out these suggestions.

  • Set Good Examples

When your kids are young, they look up to you and everything that you do.  This is why it’s important that you model good dental hygiene practices for your children.  By brushing at least twice a day, flossing regularly, and rinsing with mouthwash, you can set a good example for your kids to follow.

  • Schedule Regular Dentist Appointments

It’s important to make sure that your kids go to the dentist every six months or so.  By making dentist visits a normal activity, your kids will keep up with regularly scheduled appointments throughout their lifetime.  You should schedule your child’s first dental appointment within six months of their first tooth or their first birthday, whichever comes first.

  • Have a Candid Discussion About Good Dental Hygiene

Telling your kids to go and brush their teeth doesn’t have the same impact as sitting down with them and explaining the benefits.  When you take the time to explain why keeping your teeth and mouth healthy is so important, your kids are more likely to take the matter seriously.

These are some of the things that you can do to help your kids this National Children’s Dental Health Month.  Need help with a commercial construction project this February?  If so, then contact the experts at Proforma Construction.   Serving Pleasanton and the surrounding California area, our highly-trained team is ready to make your commercial construction dreams a reality.
