Protect Your Pet’s 4th Of July With This Safety Guide

The 4th of July is just around the corner! You are probably looking forward to the long weekend and the fun activities that your community, your friends, or your family will be hosting. To make the most of them you might be planning on bringing your pet. If so, it is important that you give a thought to some safety precautions.

Enjoy your holiday worry-free by putting these 4th of July safety tips for your pet into practice.

  • Keep An Eye On Your Drinks. You will likely want to enjoy libations to celebrate your freedoms over the holiday weekend! Just make sure you do not lose track of your drink, as it could be ingested by a pet, leading to poisoning, depression, weakness, and even respiratory failure.
  • Check For The Right Protections. Sunscreen and insect repellent might seem like a thoughtful consideration for your pet, but it is important to make sure they are labelled specifically for use on animals before applying.
  • Keep The Same Diet. You might let yourself cheat a little on your healthy eating over the holiday, but make sure you do not let your pet do the same. A change in diet, even for one meal, can be very hard on your pet’s digestive system. Particularly, make sure he or she stays away from potentially toxic foods like chocolate, onions, coffee, avocado, grapes, yeast dough, and salt.
  • Never Use Fireworks Around Pets. Even if you use them a safe distance from your pet, the sudden brightness and noise associated with a firework can severely frighten your pet.

Happy Fourth of July! We hope you have a great time celebrating. If you have an upcoming construction project—from a new design build to a remodel—contact Proforma Construction today.
