How to Stay Healthy During the Winter

by Proforma Construction Inc, January 30, 2017

The winter is a time filled with holidays and cold weather so it can be difficult to remain healthy, but these tips should help you out.

The winter means that we will spend time with our loved ones and feast until we can physically no longer put food into our mouths. It is also a time where many of us spend time indoors with many people–a perfect environment for pathogens and getting sick. In order to remain healthy this winter season, take these tips into consideration.

Eating Well

  • Don’t succumb to peer pressure. It is easy to see everyone help themselves to a full plate and then go up for seconds, and possibly even thirds, and fall victim to peer pressure. Keep a cool head, and stick to your diet–you will not achieve your goal with excuses.
  • Enjoy the necessary desserts (in moderation). If your grandma made her special dessert and requires everyone to eat it, partake in a small piece. Moderation is key, especially if you are counting calories.

Avoiding Sickness

  • Wash your hands. Germs love to stick onto hands, and hands touch things like keyboards, phones, door handles, and other hands, spreading germs to other locations and other people. Wash your hands often with soap and water for about 20 seconds in order to remove as many germs as possible.
  • Take measures to boost your immune system. A strong immune system is the best way to prevent catching and spreading illness.
