Our Uptown Oakland Housing Project, Right By Uber HQ

Our Uptown Oakland Housing Project, Right By Uber HQ

by Proforma Construction Inc, November 9, 2015

Proforma is starting work on a housing project in uptown Oakland.

Oakland has been taking off. Thanks to the tech boom in Silicon Valley, this nearby city has seen a spike in popularity both for businesses and individuals. This is evidenced by a project we just kicked off in Uptown Oakland.

Proforma Construction recently broke ground on a 25-unit housing project in this neighborhood. The residential development is conveniently situated less than a block away from the future headquarters of rideshare giant Uber. The site—located at 528 Thomas L. Berkley Way—formerly housed a parking lot. CRC Development LLC has taken over the space to develop it in anticipation of Uber moving in just three doors down.

The budget for the project is $11.2 million in total, or $450,000 per unit. We will have construction on the development completed by early 2017. Should the development become a rental rather than condo, rent will be around $3.50 per square foot, or beginning at $2,000 per month. The individual units will be largely one-bedrooms, though the building will have three two-bedroom units and a ground-floor live-work unit.

The building will be fitted with anodized silver aluminum windows and panels, a garage door and transom, and steel planters and will have a clean, modern aesthetic.
