3 Trends Influencing Workplace Design

  1. More people are working remotely. At any given time, about one-third of all knowledge workers are working remotely. Out of those given that option, only about 30 to 40 percent of employees choose to work at their desk.
  2. Activity-based workspaces. Designers, writers, web developers, sales, marketing, and more all have their own specific job in which their design can help or hinder their productivity. Activities for meetings and formal meeting spaces all need their own place. One size does not fit all.
  3. Employee engagement is key. Companies whose workers are more engaged are able to boost their company’s production by up to 20 percent. Companies with disengaged workers, however, experience a 30 to 50 percent more turnover.
