Learn how you can mitigate your holiday stress this year.

With the holidays almost upon us, your stress is probably mounting.  Unfortunately, while the holidays are a time of family, fun, and togetherness, they are also times of extreme stress for many people.  However, don’t let your stress get the best of you this year.  Mitigate your holiday stress by trying out some of these tips.

  • Take Time for Yourself

When you are feeling stressed, it’s important that you take some time to do the things that you love.  While this might seem counter productive and a waste of time, making time for yourself will prevent you from feeling too overwhelmed.  Stepping away from all your holiday planning to read, watch your favorite tv show, or simply take a nap will leave you feeling more relaxed and much more prepared to tackle all your holiday arrangements.

  • Get Some Exercise

Studies have shown that physical activity is a great way to reduce stress and improve your mood.  That’s why it’s a good idea to stay active during the holiday season.  Not only with getting exercise help you stay fit, but it will also help to soothe your anxieties.  Making time for a trip to the gym, a jog around the block, or even a quick yoga session in your living room will leave you feeling refreshed.

  • Plan Ahead

Finally, a great way to keep your stress levels at a minimum is by planning for the holidays in advance.  By being organized and having a plan in place, you don’t need to worry about running around and trying to get thing in order at the very last second.  Buying your gifts early, preparing a menu ahead of time, and organizing all travel plans in advance will ensure that you aren’t a big ball of stress when the holidays finally arrive.
